In 2012, Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA are celebrating 40 years since the establishment of the Foundation.
On the 13th of March, 1972, five doctors and six citizens undertook an exploratory meeting concerned with the problems of Arthritis and Rheumatism in
the community of Western Australia. The main aims of "Education", "Care" and "Research" were adopted and widely publicised throughout the State. This lead to the establishment of the West Australian Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation (WAARF), which was publicly inaugurated on the 2nd of October 1972 in the Government House Ballroom by the Governor and Patron, Sir Douglas Kendrew. To celebrate the inauguration, Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA will be holding a Gala Dinner in the Government House Ballroom in October this year.

Our 2012 visionary message "Prevent it. Manage it. Cure it.", resonates the foundations' original objectives of education, care and research, as well as underlining our foundation's mission to reduce the incidence and disabling effects of arthritis, osteoporosis and related conditions in the people of WA. Our jam packed 2012 calendar, also reflects our vision, with an abundance of events in association with prevention seminars, self-management courses and exciting fundraising events. Keep an eye out on our calendar to stay up to date.
