If you answered ‘yes’ to all these questions; then how does an education and self management program sound?!
This course is the first disease-specific course in Australia for people with inflammatory arthritis.
The course offers a holistic approach to promoting healthy lifestyles and self-management to people with IA/RA.
This 6-week course includes 6 weekly education sessions at 2.5hours each. We have created a relaxed, friendly and supportive group atmosphere, where you will learn how to manage your condition more effectively.
The specific topics of the course include:
- How inflammatory arthritis works?
- Pain management techniques.
- Activity/Exercise/Fitness – what? how much? when?
- Nutrition & healthy eating for IA/RA.
- Medications.
- Muscle relaxation and strengthening.
- Dealing with fatigue and negative emotions such as anger, fear, frustration and depression.
- Joint protection techniques.
- Alternative therapies.
- The link between osteoporosis and IA/RA.
- Goal setting.
