Arthritis WA works hard to introduce the vital work of the foundation to the Perth business community. The goal being to educate employers and corporate organizations to generate a greater understanding of arthritis, particularly for those of working age.

 

Arthritis has a significant economic impact. It affects nearly 11% of the workforce. Rheumatoid Arthritis in particular is recognized as one of the major health reasons for leaving work early.

 

As the population ages, the burden of arthritis on individuals, the health system and in particular the labour market and economy continues to increase.

 

Arthritis related loss of earnings due to absenteeism and early retirement is a major concern for individuals of working age. The cost of arthritis, currently at $9 billion has a significant impact on the Australian economy and subtracts from the country's productive potential in an increasingly alarming rate.

 

There is much that can and must be done to relieve the suffering caused by arthritis in Australia and to measure.

 

Community Awareness & Education people

 

Arthritis WA offers an extensive program of community initiatives to promote awareness and education of arthritis, osteoporosis and related conditions.

 

Public seminars feature specialist guest speakers including Rheumatologists, Nutritionists, Physiotherapists and other health professionals.

 

In addition, interactive community events such as school visits and open mornings coincide with an annual calendar of national and international awareness campaigns.
