DESCRIPTION:Term 3: Fri 4 September – 9 October 2026 (6 weeks)\nBuild your own safe\, personalised exercise program for managing persistent pain\nLiving with ongoing pain can affect far more than your body. It can change how you move\, how you feel\, what you feel confident doing\, and how much you are able to enjoy everyday life. \nThe Pain Management Program at Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA is designed to help you feel supported\, understood and more confident in the way you move. \nLed by experienced physiotherapist Melanie Galbraith\, this weekly program helps you build your own personalised exercise program tailored to your needs\, pain levels\, ability and goals. \nThis is not a one-size-fits-all exercise class. Melanie works with you to understand what you are experiencing\, what feels difficult\, and what you would like to improve. Your exercises are then adapted so they feel safe\, achievable and useful for everyday life. \nThe aim is to help you move with more confidence\, better understand your pain\, and develop practical strategies you can continue using beyond the class. \n\nWhat makes this program different?\nEach participant is supported to build their own personalised exercise program. \nYour program will be designed to be: \nSafe\nMovements are guided by a qualified physiotherapist and adapted to your needs. \nAchievable\nExercises are matched to your current ability\, comfort level and confidence. \nPractical\nThe focus is on movements that support daily activities\, not unrealistic fitness goals. \nPersonalised\nYou are not expected to keep up with everyone else. Your program is built around you. \nUseful beyond the class\nYou will learn exercises and strategies you can continue using at home. \n\nIs this program right for me?\nThis program may suit you if you: \n\n live with ongoing or persistent pain\nfeel nervous or unsure about exercise\nwant to move more safely and confidently\nwould like guidance from a physiotherapist\nwant a personalised exercise program\, not a generic class\nneed practical strategies for managing pain day to day\nwant to better understand pain\, pacing and flare-ups\n\nYou do not need to be fit\, flexible or confident with exercise to attend. \nThe program is designed for people who may feel unsertain about movement and want safe\, supportive guidance. \n\nWhat you can expect each week\nEach class includes education\, personalised movement and guided relaxation. \nEducation\nThe Pain Management Program places a strong focus on education\, helping participants better understand persistent pain and learn practical self-management strategies they can use in everyday life. \nEach week includes guided education sessions covering topics such as pain\, movement\, pacing\, flare-ups and self-management\, presented in a way that is easy to understand and apply. Participants learn why pain behaves the way it does\, how to move more safely and confidently\, and how to manage daily activities without overdoing it. \nPersonalised exercise\nYou’ll work with Melanie to build exercises that suit your body\, your pain levels and your goals. \nThe aim is not to push through pain. The aim is to help you build confidence\, strength and function in a safe and manageable way. \nGuided relaxation\nEach class finishes with relaxation techniques to help calm the body and support both physical and emotional wellbeing. \n\nWhat you will take away\nBy the end of the program\, you will have: \n\na personalised exercise program tailored to your needs\na better understanding of how pain works\nstrategies to manage flare-ups and pace activity\nmore confidence with safe movement\nexercises you can continue at home\npractical tools to support daily life\nsupport from an experienced physiotherapist who understands persistent pain\n\n\nLed by Melanie Galbraith\nThe program is led by Melanie Galbraith\, a physiotherapist with 30 years’ experience. \nMelanie has a special interest in persistent pain and holds a Master of Science in Medicine – Pain Management through the University of Sydney. \nShe also understands the experience of persistent pain personally\, which has shaped her compassionate and practical approach to helping people move with more confidence. \nMelanie has worked with Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA for more than 10 years\, providing education and support to both consumers and health professionals. \n\nA safe and supportive environment\nWe understand that starting a pain management class can feel daunting. \nYou may have tried exercise before and found it difficult. You may be worried about pain flare-ups. You may feel unsure about what your body can manage. You may also feel tired of not being heard or not knowing what support is right for you. \nThis program is designed to meet you where you are. \nMelanie will listen to your concerns\, work with your current ability\, and help you build confidence gradually. You will be supported in a welcoming environment\, with a focus on safe\, achievable progress. \n\nNot sure whether to book?\nThis program is for people living with ongoing pain who want practical support to move safely\, build confidence and better manage daily life. \nYou do not need to be confident with exercise before you start. That is exactly what the program is designed to help with. \nCall Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA on 9388 2199 if you have questions or book your place below. \n  \n\n  \n  \n\nRegistration Details:\n– All registrations for this term period open at 12 noon on Wed 24 June.\n– Online registrations for Friday Pain Management classes will close 4pm Thurs 3 September.\n– If you are interested in joining after the registration closing date\, please contact our staff to assist with your request.\n– You may only attend the day and time allocated for this class. \nTo successfully complete registration\, you must either:\n– Answer ‘No’ to all 6 questions (numbered 1 – 6) OR\n– Gain clearance from your GP/medical specialist PRIOR to participation in the exercise if you have answered ‘Yes’ to one or more of the questions numbered 1 – 6\n– Agree to the *Terms & Conditions outlined below. \n* Please note our Term-Based Exercise Terms & Conditions have changed.
