The Thriving with Arthritis: Regional Education Expo is designed for anyone looking for practical strategies to manage their condition\, connect with knowledgeable professionals\, and take an active role in managing their health.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresentations from health professionals will cover nutrition\, exercise\, pain and available support services\, highlighting positive lifestyle changes that can significantly improve your wellbeing and support effective disease management. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAttendees will have the opportunity to:\n\nDiscover practical\, evidence-based strategies to manage arthritis effectively\nTake part in a moderated Q&A with guest speakers\nAccess information resources from Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA\nLearn about local support resources and programs\nConnect with others in the community who are managing arthritis conditions\n\nWith around 100 conditions that fall under the umbrella of arthritis\, this event is open to anyone affected by an arthritis condition\, including individuals diagnosed with arthritis\, carers\, and those interested in learning more about effective self-management strategies. \n\n\nKey Topics and Speakers\n\nManaging Arthritis Through Movement: A Physio & Exercise Physiology Guide – Alana Andreotti (Exercise Physiologist) and Elano Evangelista (Physiotherapist) \n\nAlana is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who completed her Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Western Australia in 2019. With over six years of experience working in private practice in Perth\, she has developed expertise in managing a diverse range of chronic and complex health conditions. Alana is particularly passionate about using exercise as medicine to help individuals improve their health\, manage pain\, and enhance their quality of life. She has a strong interest in supporting people with arthritis through safe\, evidence-based exercise programs that improve joint function\, strength\, and confidence in movement. Having recently returned to Albany\, Alana is excited to bring her skills\, experience\, and enthusiasm for health and wellness to the local community. Through her clinical work and community education\, she advocates for the important role exercise physiology plays in arthritis management\, empowering people to remain active and independent. \nElano is an enthusiastic physiotherapist with a strong interest in the management of arthritis and other chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He works in private practice\, where he helps individuals improve function\, reduce pain\, and maintain independence through evidence-based physiotherapy and exercise programs. Elano is passionate about empowering people with arthritis to stay active and confident in their movement. His clinical approach focuses on education\, tailored exercise therapy\, and practical strategies to support long-term joint health and quality of life. \n\nStronger Bones\, Happier Joints: Self Managing Your Way to Better Health – Bradley Mertens (Dietitian) \n\nBradley is an approachable and client focused Dietitian who is highly effective at building trust and meaningful relationships. With a calm\, steady presence\, he responds to clients with genuine empathy and curiosity\, creating a safe and supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their experiences. Drawing on a background in teaching\, Bradley has strong skills in nutrition education and enjoys helping clients understand their health in practical\, empowering ways. Emily is a senior lecturer and researcher at Curtin University and coordinates nutrition-related research at Fiona Stanley Hospital\, Fremantle Hospital and Cockburn Health. She teaches the latest advances in nutrition including evaluation of emerging diet trends such as intermittent fasting.  Her research interests include investigating the impact of diet on inflammation\, metabolism\, body composition\, and surgical outcomes. Through her telehealth practice The Nutrition Doctor\, she supports clients around Australia to make changes to their diets to improve their diet and manage health conditions such as arthritis\, osteoporosis\, weight-loss\, type 2 diabetes\, high blood pressure\, high cholesterol\, and fatty liver.  Emily has been an invited presenter to deliver workshops and seminars to health professional bodies\, not for profit organisations and WA Government Departments. Supporting the many health education activities of AOWA\, she has written magazine articles on the role of diet\, presented to young adults living with arthritis at The Arthritis Getaway\, presented at the National Consumer Conference\, and delivered education for GPs\, exercise physiologists\, physiotherapists and nurses on the role of diet for osteoarthritis. \n\nTaking Control of Pain: Self-Managing Your Way to Better Living – Mel Galbraith (Physiotherapist)\n\nMelanie graduated from Curtin University in 1994 and has been working as a physiotherapist for the past 30 years\, including 10 years in the UK. Mel’s own experience with persistent pain led her to complete a Master of Science in Medicine – Pain Management via the University of Sydney\, and she has focused on this area for the latter half of her career.
