Tai Chi for Arthritis Instructor Training Workshop

Fri 12 & Sat 13 April 2019 (2 days)

On successful completion of this two day intensive workshop, you will be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct safe and effective Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls prevention classes. This easy to learn programme is based on the Sun Style of tai chi and was specially designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with medical and tai chi experts to improve the control of arthritis, improve balance and flexibility. It has been recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an effective falls prevention activity. 

Reasons to come to the workshop:

  • Learn how to teach this programme safely and effectively.
  • Gain knowledge of what is Tai Chi, how it can prevent falls and how it can help people with arthritis.
  • Be able to perform theTai Chi for Arthritis set.

Who is eligible to attend this training? 
Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Certified Allied Health Assistants, Diversional & Lifetyle Therapists, Health Professionals, Nurses, Tai Chi teachers and advanced Tai Chi students.

Your Trainer: 
Sam Sujatna is a Master Trainer of the Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 & 2, Fall Prevention and Seated Tai Chi for programmes. He is a former Personal Trainer and the current President of the Kung Fu Wushu Association of Western Australia. Sam is also the first W.A. resident to be Board Certified to deliver the TCHI programmes.

Tai Chi for Arthritis Preparation: 
Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme (DVD available for $35.99) and the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam (available in hard copy $21.95 or e-book $9.95) before coming to the workshop.  These products are available from Tai Chi Productions in Sydney Ph: 02 9533 6511 or visit: www.taichiproductions.com

Board Certification: 
Following successful completion of the course, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board certified instructor/leader before teaching the programme.  A single annual fee of $25 (Standard Membership) or $45 (Premier Membership) covers Board Certification for all of your Tai Chi for Health Institute qualifications.

Accreditation Points:
Please check with your peak body organisation to see if Tai Chi for Arthritis is recognised by industry.

Tai Chi for Arthritis 2 Instructor Training Workshop

Sun 14 April 2019 (1 day)

This one-day workshop is an extension of the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention programme, based on the Sun Style of tai chi.  The Tai Chi for Arthritis 2 programme and was designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with a team of medical and tai chi experts and is suitable for those seeking to develop their tai chi skills further.

Reasons to come to the workshop:

  • Learn how to teach this programme safely and effectively
  • Gain more depth of understanding of Tai Chi Principles and how the Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 & 2 programmes help people with arthritis
  • Be able to perform the Tai Chi for Arthritis 1 & 2 set.

Who is eligible to attend this training?

Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis

Mon 15 April 2019 (1 day)

This one-day workshop includes certification as a Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis Instructor.  This is a modified version of Tai Chi for Arthritis and can be enjoyed by anyone wishing to practice Tai Chi sitting down. People with almost any chronic condition can learn to improve their health and mobility. This safe easy-to-learn program relieves pain and improves health and quality of life.

Health Professionals and carers using this program with people with disabilities can share quality time with them while improving their own health. It is suitable for people who are either unable to walk or are required to be seated.

Prerequisites:

  • Certified in Tai Chi Arthritis
  • Certified in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention
  • Ability to perform the complete TCA set by memory
