SUMMARY:Tai Chi for Arthritis & Osteoporosis (Intermediate) - Mondays 1:45pm Mundaring
DESCRIPTION:Term 3: Mon 20 July – Sun 27 September 2026 (10 weeks)\nClass Details:\n\nThe Tai Chi for Arthritis Program was developed in 1997 by Dr Paul Lam in collaboration with Tai Chi and medical experts. It is specifically designed for people with arthritis and related musculoskeletal conditions\, using gentle\, flowing movements to improve strength\, mobility\, and overall wellbeing. Classes are delivered in a relaxed and social setting\, making them both enjoyable and accessible to people of all fitness levels.  \nResearch shows that Tai Chi helps build muscular strength to support and protect the joints\, increases flexibility and mobility to reduce stiffness and pain\, and improves balance by focusing on safe weight transference. These benefits reduce the risk of falls and support greater independence. Regular practice has also been linked to improved cardiorespiratory fitness\, enhancing the healthy functioning of the heart and lungs.  \nThe program combines movement with breathing and relaxation techniques\, helping participants relieve pain\, manage stress\, and improve posture. By bringing together physical\, mental\, and social benefits\, Tai Chi for Arthritis supports participants to feel stronger\, calmer\, and more confident in their everyday lives. \nThe intermediate course is ideal for participants who have had some exposure to Tai Chi in the past. Participants will refine and increase the complexity of movements and sequences. \nVenue: Harmony Hall\, Cafe Mojo Community Centre\, 16 Craig St\, Mundaring\nCost: Please see ticket details below to view term class fees.\nClass Times: You may only attend the day and time allocated for this class (once per week) \n*Please wear loose\, comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes and bring a water bottle. \n\nMeet the Trainer:\nTeresa Stokes is a senior trainer and certified instructor with Dr Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health Institute. Teresa Stokes has been practising Tai Chi for 16 years and has shared her practice with Arthritis and Osteoporosis WA for the past 10 years. She enjoys learning\, practising\, and sharing Tai Chi with her children\, grandchildren\, and participants who want to improve their health physically\, mentally\, and socially. \nShe believes that Tai Chi has had a positive impact on both her daily life and her overall health and capabilities. Teresa is an experienced instructor skilled at modifying movements to suit individuals. \nChairs are available for support\, and the program can be performed seated if preferred.\nTeresa looks forward to meeting new participants and watching them grow and feel their best. \n\nRegistration Details:\n– All registrations for this term period open at 12 noon on Wednesday 24th June 2026.\n– Online registrations will close at 4pm\, one business day before the term start date for each class\, e.g. online registrations for Monday classes will close at 4pm on Fri 17th July.\n– If you are interested in joining after the registration closing date\, please contact our staff to assist with your request.\n– You may only attend the day and time allocated for this class. \nTo successfully complete registration\, you must either:\n– Answer ‘No’ to all 6 questions (numbered 1 – 6) OR\n– Gain clearance from your GP/medical specialist PRIOR to participation in the exercise if you have answered ‘Yes’ to one or more of the questions numbered 1 – 6\n– Agree to the *Terms & Conditions outlined below. \nClick here to read our Term-Based Exercise Terms & Conditions.
