SUMMARY:Teens Healthy Bones and Joints Program (Secondary School) - Thursdays 4:00pm\, Shenton Park
DESCRIPTION:Term 2: Mon 20th April – Sun 5th July 2026 (11 weeks)\nNote: Teens Healthy Bones & Joints classes on Thursdays run from 14 May – 2 July. Registration fee is for 8 weeks.\nClass Details:\nThe Healthy Bones and Joints Program is a specialised group exercise program designed for secondary school students living with conditions such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)\, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)\, and Connective Tissue Disorders. Developed in partnership with the endocrinology team at Perth Children’s Hospital and physiotherapists at Western Kids Health\, the program is supervised by a senior physiotherapist with specialist training in these conditions to ensure exercises are safe\, effective\, and tailored to individual needs.  \nResearch shows that staying active during puberty plays a vital role in building bone density and reducing the risk of fractures and injuries later in life. Regular exercise also helps manage pain\, fatigue\, and stiffness while improving participation in school\, family\, and social activities. However\, barriers such as fear of injury\, pain\, or uncertainty about safe exercise can make it difficult for teens with musculoskeletal conditions to stay active. This program addresses these challenges by providing expert guidance in a relaxed and supportive environment.  \nEach session includes a mix of flexibility\, strengthening\, aerobic conditioning\, and balance training\, all delivered in a graded format appropriate for teens with chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Beyond the physical benefits\, the program also creates an important opportunity for young people to connect\, support one another\, and share experiences\, building both resilience and confidence. \nTo successfully complete registration\, your teen must fulfill the below criteria:\n–   Children aged 12 years or older (year 7 and up)\n–   OI\, JIA\, CWPS\, HSD\, hEDS/cEDS diagnosis\n–   Clearance to exercise as provided by GP or Specialist\n–   ESSA Medical History form to be completed (contained within this online registration) \nVenue: Western Kids Health\, Level 1\, Victoria House\, 4 Thorburn Way\, Shenton Park\nCost: Please see ticket details below to view term class fees.\nClass Times: You may only attend the day and time allocated for this class (once per week) as indicated on the online booking confirmation email. \nRegistration Details:\n– All registrations for this term period open at 12 noon on Wednesday 25th March 2026.\n– Online registrations for Thursday Teens Healthy Bones & Joints classes close at 10am on Thursday 14th May).\n– If you are interested in joining after online registration closes\, please get in touch with our staff at 9388 2199 to assist with your request. \nTo successfully complete registration\, you must either:\n– Answer ‘No’ to all questions (numbered 1 – 10) OR\n– Gain clearance from your child’s GP/medical specialist PRIOR to participation in the exercise if you have answered ‘Yes’ to one or more of the questions numbered 1 – 10\n– Agree to the *Terms & Conditions outlined below. \nClick here to read our Term-Based Exercise Terms & Conditions.
