Osteoporosis: Pharmacological Management

This video presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of pharmacological therapies used in the management of osteoporosis, focusing on antiresorptive and osteoanabolic treatments.

Participants will gain valuable insights into the initiation and maintenance of antiresorptive treatments, including the implementation of drug holidays as part of a holistic management strategy for osteoporosis.

Meet the Expert

Prof Charles Inderjeeth

Professor Charles Inderjeeth is a Clinical Epidemiologist and Physician in Rheumatology and Geriatric Medicine (Metro and Rural). He is a Clinical Professor at the School of Medicine & Pharmacology, University of Western Australia and Clinical Dean, Curtin University.

He is an actively practising clinical academic with strong education links to General, Specialist and Hospital Practice. He has numerous advisory/executive roles to the Department of Health (WA), the Arthritis and Osteoporosis Foundation of WA, Osteoporosis Australia, the Australian Rheumatology Association, Australian and New Zealand Society of Bone Mineral Research and the Australia and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine and Sarcopenia and Frailty Research.

He has been involved in education and research in the field of rheumatology, osteoporosis, vitamin D, dementia and geriatric syndromes leading to innovative service development including the development of Orthogeriatric, Fall, Fracture and Balance and Fragile Bone Services. He is a recipient of an NHMRC – NICS – DVA Fellowship 2007-2009.
