This gentle, low impact exercise program is suitable for people with any form of diagnosed arthritis. Each class is led by a physiotherapist and the program will include exercises for strength, flexibility and balance.

2nd Apr 2019 Talk: How to Navigate the Aged Care System to Remain Living at Home

Research shows that most older Australians want to remain living at home as they age rather than move to residential care.

 Ms Jill Jamieson, one of the co-founders of Live Well Longer, will provide an overview of the home care system, including accessing funding and tips and strategies that she and other co-founders have learnt along the way.

If you have been diagnosed with lupus and would like to meet other people living with the same condition, then come along to our support group where you can get connected and find help. Meets 1st Wednesday of each month in Shenton Park.

An estimated 1.2 million people in Australia have osteoporosis; many of these people take regular osteoporosis medicines to improve their bone health and reduce the risk of fractures. In this talk, Mr Navid Namdar, Pharmacist, will discuss the key drugs usually prescribed by GPs including their safety, efficacy and side effects.

Many of us with osteoporosis know what exercises we should be doing to help our condition, but are we aware of which ones to avoid and what activities around the home might cause a fracture? 

 Ms Jane Stott, Physiotherapist, will discuss which exercises you should not being doing and how you can move safely to avoid a fracture whilst carrying out your daily activities.

27th Jun 2019 Talk: Mindfulness and Meditation for Arthritis and Osteoporosis

Simply taking a few mindful moments in your day, or setting aside a little time to meditate, can help you in managing the symptoms associated with arthritis and osteoporosis.  Ms Jacintha Bell, Occupational Therapist, will discuss how to develop a greater understanding of what mindfulness and meditation can do for you, and learn some simple practices that you can start using right away.  You may be surprised to discover that mindfulness and meditation are not necessarily the same thing, and you do not need to meditate to be mindful.
