Advancements in imaging technology such as MRI and CT scans mean early diagnosis and monitoring now often eliminates long-term damage that was once commonplace.
And a new understanding of the role genetics play in some forms of arthritis has opened the door to personalised treatment approaches that once were only dreamt about.
