AOWA has organised an annual camp for children with musculoskeletal conditions since the early 1990s. Camps are designed to provide children with chronic musculoskeletal conditions the opportunity to learn about their condition in a safe and fun environment, alongside others with the same diagnosis and supported by oversight and care of health professionals.
Camps aim to promote self-management, personal growth, independence, self-confidence, and physical capabilities. An established and regular event in the AOWA calendar, this camp consistently rates as a favourite event with participants.
Children participate in numerous activities throughout the camp. Previous camps have included rock climbing, fishing, arts and crafts, canoeing, archery, disco, sports, games and much more!
Children are supervised by medical staff and Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA volunteers who remain onsite for the duration of the camp. In addition, all supervisors and health professionals attending the camp have Working With Children checks.
Arthritis Kids Camp is a fun filled six-day activity camp that takes place during the September/October school holidays.
