About the Program

Falls are a leading cause of injury for those over 65, often leading to pain, trauma, and loss of independence.

Join our Falls Prevention Exercise Classes designed for those with arthritis and osteoporosis. Based on renowned fall prevention research, our circuit-style classes offer a comprehensive approach to improving balance, strength, and posture focusing on the muscles required for walking.

  • Class Structure: Circuit style
  • Cost: $160 for ten weeks or $18 for a casual session
  • Available Date Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Educational Component: Learn how to prevent falls and manage your health

Falls Prevention
Level 1

Tuesdays
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Shenton Park

This circuit-style class focuses on lower body and core strength, balance, and technique. Participants will learn how to safely perform movements, improve balance, and strengthen muscles that assist in fall prevention.

Each week, participants will receive education about a topic related to reducing their fall risk. All exercises are standing or sitting; there is no requirement
to get on knees or the floor.

Falls Prevention
Level 2

Thursdays
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Shenton Park

This circuit-style class builds on the strength, balance, and technique learnt in Falls Prevention Class 1.

Participants must have completed Falls Prevention Class 1 and have been recommended by the instructor to move to this class.

This class includes exercises on the knees or the floor, with options available for those who cannot do so. Each week, participants will receive education about a topic related to fall prevention.
