Living with arthritis can significantly impact everyday activities, but the right guidance and support can make a real difference. The Thriving with Arthritis: Regional Education Expo is designed for anyone looking for practical strategies to manage their condition, connect with knowledgeable professionals, and take an active role in managing their health.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Discover practical, evidence-based strategies to manage arthritis effectively
- Take part in a moderated Q&A with guest speakers
- Access information resources from Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA
- Learn about local support resources and programs
- Connect with others in the community who are managing arthritis conditions
With around 100 conditions that fall under the umbrella of arthritis, this event is open to anyone affected by an arthritis condition, including individuals diagnosed with arthritis, carers, and those interested in learning more about effective self-management strategies.
Key Topics and Speakers
- Managing Arthritis Through Movement: A Physio & Exercise Physiology Guide – Alana Andreotti (Exercise Physiologist) and Elano Evangelista (Physiotherapist)
Alana is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who completed her Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Western Australia in 2019. With over six years of experience working in private practice in Perth, she has developed expertise in managing a diverse range of chronic and complex health conditions. Alana is particularly passionate about using exercise as medicine to help individuals improve their health, manage pain, and enhance their quality of life. She has a strong interest in supporting people with arthritis through safe, evidence-based exercise programs that improve joint function, strength, and confidence in movement. Having recently returned to Albany, Alana is excited to bring her skills, experience, and enthusiasm for health and wellness to the local community. Through her clinical work and community education, she advocates for the important role exercise physiology plays in arthritis management, empowering people to remain active and independent.
Elano is an enthusiastic physiotherapist with a strong interest in the management of arthritis and other chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He works in private practice, where he helps individuals improve function, reduce pain, and maintain independence through evidence-based physiotherapy and exercise programs. Elano is passionate about empowering people with arthritis to stay active and confident in their movement. His clinical approach focuses on education, tailored exercise therapy, and practical strategies to support long-term joint health and quality of life.
- Stronger Bones, Happier Joints: Self Managing Your Way to Better Health – Bradley Mertens (Dietitian)
Bradley is an approachable and client focused Dietitian who is highly effective at building trust and meaningful relationships. With a calm, steady presence, he responds to clients with genuine empathy and curiosity, creating a safe and supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their experiences. Drawing on a background in teaching, Bradley has strong skills in nutrition education and enjoys helping clients understand their health in practical, empowering ways. He has a particular passion for sports dietetics and a growing interest in holistic health practices, bringing a well rounded, person centred approach to supporting the wellbeing of the Great Southern community.
