Visiting Rheumatology Consultant for Provision of Rheumatology Service in the Kimberley Region

The region is seeking expressions of interest for the provision of this service as a visiting service from Perth or as a part-time role for a dual-trained general physician/rheumatologist willing to join the regional general physician team—with the rheumatology commitment being at least 0.3 FTE.

Visiting service remuneration – consulting day rate: $2700 per day
Or Part-time Salaried Physician remuneration  – as per AMA award
Start date: January 2025 onwards
Locations: Broome, Derby and Kununurra

The visiting service may be provided by an individual or group and will be via Medical Service Agreement (MSA) arrangement or on Part-time salaried Physician remuneration. In ensuring the provision of an appropriate medical service and in meeting their obligations to the people of the WA Country Health Service, Kimberley (WACHS KI), the Contracted Medical Practitioners will provide:

 

SERVICES REQUIRED
  • A consulting rheumatology service predominantly as an outpatient service, with availability to respond to limited ad hoc inpatient rheumatology queries during business hours.
  • Telehealth sessions in between regional visits to allow for timely management of biological treatments
  • Triaging of referrals
  • Appropriate teaching of relevant staff and students on each visit
  • Delivery of the service in line with Aboriginal Cultural Safety principles
 
FREQUENCY
  • Total of 8-10 visits per annum, with each trip a full five (5) working days.
  • Visits are required to the following locations:
  • 4-5 visits per annum to Kununurra
  • 4-5 visits per annum to Broome and Derby
  • Total of 6-8 Telehealth sessions per annum
  • Additional consulting visits, including remote communities, as required

 

VISITING SERVICE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  1. Remuneration at the WACHS Schedule Consulting Day Rate of $2700 per day
  2. Return economy airfares from the point of origin in WA to all Kimberley sites.
  3. Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the visit
  4. Access to either a government vehicle or a hire car for the duration of the visit

The selection process may not necessarily include the conduct of interviews.
